MAVROS MOLOS BEACH
The Mavros Molos, in English: Black Jetty beach, the most beautiful beach in Kissamos. The town of Kissamos is located along the beautiful bay – 39 km from the old town of Chania.
The bay is the largest breeding site for dolphins in Europe.
According to an ancient legend, Aphrodite, who is the goddess of love and beauty in Greek mythology, who was capricious – who made people smile, with her ideas and actions – childishly gullible – cheerful, playfully irresponsible, who had several sacred animals:
– because of her purity: the pigeon
– because of her graceful: the swan
– because of her fertility: the rabbit, the dolphin
Aphrodite loved Crete, and in it Kissamos! – she loved the fabulous bay, which is why dolphins like to breed here.
The Mavros Molos is the main beach of Kissamos town. The coast has received the highest recognition: Blue Flag, so the water and the beach meet strict standards in the following areas: quality, safety, environmental education and information standards, services, environmental management.
The shores of the picturesque bay are covered with fine sand, the water is crystal clear and shallow along the coast. The beach is ideal for families with small children.
