ELAFONISSI BEACH

Elafonisi is a unique beach because of its pink sand. It is the wonderful beach, with pink coral sand and crystal clear water. Dazzling white sand, with a pink sand, turquoise sea.

The calcium carbonate found in the shells, mixed with white sand and light coloured sand, gives the beach its special color. The formation of pink sand helped: the microorganisms, what are symbiotically related to pigmented algae.
