PLATANIAS BEACH

If You are approaching Platanias from Chania, and You passing by the sandy beach: which is surrounded by hotel complexes catering to all needs – which is coloured by shops, restaurants and entertainment venues, then it starts after the port: the Platanias beach – this is a very beautiful and unique coastal section.
We are 18.5 kilometers from Chania: so far, every seaside resort at the foot of the mountains has tempted us, with a sandy beach.
But what makes Platanias beach unique is, that the landscape changes here.

The beginning of the beach is sandy, as we saw in the part in front of the port, but here begins a pebble beach.
The coast of Western Crete between Platanias and Kissamos is small pebbled: rocky or stony in some places.
It is a [swpm_protected format_protected_msg=”1″] 28-kilometer stretch of coastline, which also has a very special atmosphere. In some places, we can only approach the beaches through smaller gorges. This part is adventurous.

Of course umbrellas and sunbeds can be rented, and the taverns, restaurants next to the coast await the dear guest, with delicious fish dishes and other specialties.
