AGIA MARINA BEACH
It is continuation of the sandy beach of Kato Stalos. The two holiday villages completely merge. It is just separated, with a small rocky part! – what stretching into the sea.
The Agia Marina is a little holiday village. It has an area of only 5.3 km2 and a permanent population 1448 people. Chania is 9.1 km. Kissamos is 30.7 km away.
[swpm_protected format_protected_msg=”1″] Agia Marina beach is one of the most popular resorts in Western Crete. There are many hotels and restaurants waiting for our guests.
GPS is very important! – because there are no street names in Western Crete.
GPS: 35.521496, 23.929945 [/swpm_protected]

On the west side of the beautiful sandy beach, near the port of Platanias, we meet some small artificial pier.
This stretch of beach is different from Kato Stalos beach. On Kato Stalos beach, directly on the coast: there are a lot of small privately owned hotels, to which the coastal part belongs.
The beach part: can only be used by hotel guests! – that’s why the Stalos beach is not crowded: quiet!
The Agia Marina beach is accessible to everyone! There are larger hotels on the coast, a little further from the beach.
Residents of the resort village will appear on this stretch of beach after work. Especially on weekends it is much more crowded, than the Kato Stalos beach.

The cave of Nerospilia is 1.5 km of the village, with magnificent stalactites.
But unfortunately entry is forbidden! – because it is privately owned. In the Minoan period, this cave was a place of worship. [/swpm_protected]
Island of St. Theodore
[swpm_protected format_protected_msg=”1″] It is directly opposite Agia Marina is: the island of St. Theodore.
The island is a nature reserve, as endangered Cretan wild goats live in this place.
This goat breed was moved to this island, from the vicinity of the White Mountains and the Samaria Gorge. It is forbidden to approach the island! [/swpm_protected]
